Re:        Proposed IT Solution for SUH’s Sales and Support

     In this report, I will explain the proposed information technology solution for SUH’s sales and support team.  As previously stated, the challenge was the largest and most detrimental to SUH and should be handled as soon as possible.  Information Technology and the Sales and Support divisions have created a working group to address these issues and have plan for success.  

Proposed Solution

The way ahead that Sales and Support would like to see is a Cloud ERP solution.  The team has analyzed the three different financial management systems that are currently used by SUH and its subsidiaries.  Upon review of SUH, CarbonTech, and My Rentals the team has decided that the whole organization would receive the most cost savings by using one of the current systems employed.  The system that is being recommended is the system from Epicor that CarbonTech is currently using for their financial management systems.  The changeover will require a large amount of resources, but we believe that the conversion will pay off immediately.  As you know, it already takes four weeks at the end of every quarter to reconcile three financial reports into one.  Using one system will greatly reduce the time and effort to produce a consolidated report.  Yes, we know that we are talking about the financial system, but Epicor has other products that will greatly enhance our organization, like Cloud ERP. We believe that once all three companies are using the same system, there will be no stopping us in exceeding our business goals.  Below are some of the characteristics that we believe are the most important to our solution. ACCESSIBILITY

     When properly set up each company/division will have access only to the information that is pertinent to them.  This will alleviate some of the security issues because only SUH executive management will have control to see the whole picture of where the company is going.  Each of the other company’s executives will have full access to only their company’s information.  While the combined Sales and Support team will have the most current and updated information at their fingertips.  (Vista Information Services, 2013)

PORTABILITY

     Having a Cloud based ERP system will give us, many options to access up to date company information anytime and anywhere.  We will be able to use many different devices from using desktops to laptops, pads, and phones.  With this system, we will be able backup Sales and Supports devices that are used in the field for added comfort. (Vista Information Services, 2013)

RELIABILITY

     While talking to the Epicor representative, I did receive a list of companies that have this service and interviewed them.  They were all extremely happy with Epicor’s products and service.  Many of them stated that Epicor bent over backward to help with any issues that they had.
