ORGANIZATIONAL APPROACHES FOR MANAGING STRESS (LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS)

Stress is a very common factor in society, and the way that it exhibit all depends on a tally of different lifestyles factors from each person. The highest levels of stress is normally taken for those that assume authority roles, there are several approaches to managing organizational stress.  The first thing is by having better allocation of financial resources, these sources can go a long way and help in reducing the work stresses of employees. By having more funding in areas that are deprived of resources it can reduce the workloads and make the environment more relaxing. Then, upgrading of the resources and the facilities of police training academies it will help move officers into the world of policing and make the transition smoother. It is important to employ a “person –on-the – job- fit – analysis” for each new recruit that matches each new recruit capabilities with specific requirement of jobs that is within the department. We have to realize that all officers’ mentality is not the same, so finding a post that suits the officer personality will help eliminate any type of work load stress. Lastly, if department leaders produce a written plan that details their efforts in helping the officers in managing workplace stress, it can show stressed officer that there is a chance for improvements within their work environment, and this would reduce the officer’s stress.
