  1. Problem Statement:

Siddhartha is working in an organisation that is situated on the bank of River Ganga in Varanasi. People are very fond of Banarasi Pan. But the extent of their fondness has resulted into spit stains all over the walls of the organisation. Siddhartha faces an uphill task of improving the cleanliness of the premise.

  1. The importance of Cleanliness:

“Neat and Clean is the best scene”

Cleanliness at the workplace is a very important aspect of an organisation. Cleanliness shows the values and culture of an organisation. Not only this, cleanliness has been also linked to productivity. The cleaner the area, more productive and active people will be.

But still, there are people, who out of their bad habits and laziness fail to keep their surrounding clean. Untidiness not only affects the person but also other people working at that place.

  1. Urgent steps to be undertaken:

Organisations are run by the workers working in them. Organisations do understand this. That is the reason employees are one of the most important resources for an organisation. But sometimes organisations are hampered by actions of few employees. In this case, the organisation has to amend and make new rules to safeguard the larger interest of the organisation and the environment.

The present situation in our organisation is so grave that it calls for urgent attention. Corners, especially stair-cases have been converted into spit-bins by the employees. To curb this problem, and to encourage cleanliness in the organisation, following steps should be undertaken:

  1. Clean the areas and designate the Campus as “No Spitting Zone”:

People spit on the areas which are already dirty. So to undertake cleanliness, first and foremost we should clean and re-paint the frequent areas. Once the area is cleaned and re-painted, then the areas should be well maintained. A volunteer team of employees to be formed to regularly monitor the areas. One way could be to count the dirty areas and share this data internally on a regular basis.
