The catholic mass

Catholics worship go in a variety of ways, but the main act of worship is the liturgy of the Eucharist in a Mass. This word comes from the latin saying that priest used to at the end, "Ite, missa est". Even though the mass had some changes throughout history, it has always been the central form of catholic worship. There is evidence from soon after the death of Jesus, that Christians gathered to celebrate the Lord's Supper (the Eucharist) Christians saw the mass ad a mystical reality where the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross renewed. They did not see it as just a memorial. Still today, Catholics believe in the real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. When the bread and wine became the body and blood of Jesus Christ, he is truly present on the altar. This process is called transubstantiation.
