                                APPLYING OB ASSIGNMENT

1. Personality:

It can be defined as the combination of stable, physical and mental characteristics that give individual his/her identity. It can also be defined as a sum total of ways individual react to environment. Personality is a broader terms. Personality can be judged on  how one think, feel , react to things or situation.

2. Usage of Personality by Social Scientist.

Social Scientist use personality to determine the types of characteristics person can possess. They can use to determine whether the individual reacting on one manner changes his reaction in other situation or will remain same.  They can use this concept to determine whether personality is heredity  and does that change overtime , if they change the way of their reaction then how much do they change. They can use this concept to determine what factors makes an individual change his/her identity.

3. General examples of personality.

a. Mark Zukerberg is a kind of person who use to remain silent in the class all the time and  even if he was speaking he use to speak at last. He use to say that "I know what I'm doing", this reflects his personality that he was introvert and confident person. Currently he changed from introvert to extrovert and still is the confident person with CEO of Facebook. This shows how person changes his personality over time.

b. A kind of person who refuses to give on a dream-even if some people think it's an impossible dream. This shows that person has pro-active personality with characteristics of never giving up, mental stability, confident to achieve dream, Self-believer.

4. Use of personality by non-scientist.

Non Scientist use the concept of personality to determine how individual with different personality interact with each other. Organizations uses in for the recruitment of the employees within the organization taking to consideration various personality traits and compare those traits with the employee . This helps organization to know how far the individual is reliable and whether his and company's expectation matches or not. This also helps organization to know how employees with different personality within organization behave with each other and how they coordinate with each other to achieve company's & their personal goal.

SOUTHWOOD SCHOOL CASE STUDY

Sets of personality traits based on the South wood case for measuring among the candidates while selection:

1. Openness to experience.

2.Extraversion.

3. Conscientiousness

4. Neuroticism

Plan for measuring those traits among candidates:

Through the openness to experience we can know how open the candidate is.  We can know whether the candidate is creative, thinks in an openly and broadly, because whether its School or an Organization candidate should know to handle task in various ways that can only happen if candidate is creative. He should be open to know various things and various ways of getting work done. He should be curious about things this will make candidate work with an interest. Secondly through extraversion we can judge candidate that whether he talks am interact with people or not, because any organization need group work so if candidate is not able to work with other then mission might not succeed. Extraversion also helps in judging whether person is assertive and sociable or not. Conscientiousness helps to know whether the candidate is trusting , good natured, co-operative or not because this factors enable the organization let candidate work individually and makes employer believe that an individual  believes in its mission and will work hard to achieve that. Emotional Stability helps in determining whether an individual is feeling secure, is unworried if he/she is selected to work for an organization and helps organization in understanding that an individual will serve an organization for  long term.
