Abstract

Eating disorder is a serious sickness that a lot of people are not aware of. As we age and grow older we become more worried about our body image. This worriedness can sometimes lead to problems that can't be fixed easily. In this research applied a study about eating disorder particularly among young working women and students to see how it can affect their academic, working performance.

Introduction

A lot of people when they hear of someone with an eating disorder they habitually assume that he/she has a problem with food. Eating disorders are not only an indication that a person has a problem with food; instead eating disorders are symptoms for the problems the person is facing in life. With the appropriate treatment, they can fully recover.

Eating Disorders focus on everything happening in life such as stress, coping, pain, anger, acceptance, validation, confusion, fear, cleverly (or not so cleverly) secreted behind phrases like "I'm just on a diet". (Eating disorder information, 2011)

Eating disorders are "psychological illnesses in which persons become obsessed with food and with their body weight". People who have eating disorders have a bothered body image; they always feel fat and see themselves as overweight even if they are at a normal average weight. Food becomes a controlling tool in their lives. Meanwhile, eating disorders aren't really about food. Food is the mechanism used to help cope with underlying difficulties. (eating issues, 2010)

Eating Disorders in Muslim Countries

In Muslim culture people struggle to come to terms with this level of illness, as it

becomes difficult to understand whether it's self-afflicted or psychological. Most

people don't think that eating disorders are serious illness and should be cured with
