New Year's Eve Dinner
Where everyone gathers for reunion dinner. Those who are far away from home would take this time to meet up with the family to have a good dinner. It's either done at home or at a restaurant.
Red Packets
Putting of money in a red envelope and its always the married adults giving it to the young ones or the elderly children in the family. It symbolize being healthy and long living. Keep away all the bad stuffs.
During this period of time, parents would bring their children to the night market to shop for Chinese new year goodies, like sweets, pineapple tarts, jelly, nian gao, etc to put at home when people visit their house they have something to treat and everyone loves it.
Cleaning
Its always part of the tradition that a few days before CNY, family will get together and clean the house. Which said to get rid of the OLD and welcoming the NEW and good stuff.
Which is said no sweeping of floor can be done on the first and second day of the cny which means driving away all the good lucks from the house this year.
Decoration
After all the cleaning, family members then start to decorate the house with RED colours to bloom the year ahead.
On the firs day of CNY,
children will first wishes their parents long live in the morning and then to their relatives and friends house for visiting session and this goes on for 15 day.
