Chapter 1: INTRODUCTION

  1. Background of the Study

The lack of open space in Manila makes it difficult to construct and plan an urban park that has wide coverage.  Urban Park or Public Park is a park in a city or municipality that offers recreation and green spaces for the residents and visitors. The design, operation and maintenance is usually done by government, typically on the local level, but may occasionally be contracted out to a park conservancy, or private sector company. The other articles regarding making Metro Manila green discusses the effects of pollution suggests a common idea – put up a park, they say that it would help reduce the effects of pollution. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) together with the World Health Organization (WHO) and Department of Health (DOH) are taking steps to make the issue of air pollution in our country reduced.
