Horror stories relating to the LTB module are plentiful around in the campus. Having been warned by the year 2s that LTB is going to be very time consuming and meetings are expected to last anywhere from 3-6 hours, I was really afraid of the course.

I guess I would compare my LTB journey to that of a train ride that had been rerouted to a different destination. My initial plan was travel the easiest route to the nearest destination. However, my companions with me on this journey motivated me and made me change my route to one that is less travelled and also to a destination that is further but more fulfilling than what I had planned originally.

Initial plans that I have for LTB

In the beginning of the term, I have more or less decided that I shall play the role of a follower. Initially, I called and send out emails to corporate companies but they either rejected us or would at best give us a small discount. As our LTB execution date looms ahead, and with still no sponsorships, the dejection became worst and that was the time when I decided to approach my contacts for sponsorships. Having done my own fair share of networking in the past, I have realized long ago that a favor given is expected to be returned. Having asked for $600 in cash sponsorships from both my contacts, it is only a matter of time before I returned them the favor.

What I Learnt About Myself

Nonetheless, through this experience of sourcing for sponsorships, I realized that me being me would never be able to sit back and leech on the work of others. My initial plan of playing a supporting role had failed miserably and instead, I became the mover in sourcing for sponsorships. From this experience I
