Critical Thinking and Ethics

The skills that you develop as a thinker are anticipated to help you think your way through any and all life situations. One of the most difficult and complex of life issues is decisions and moral issues. Every day of your life you make decisions, moral choices that mirror your own moral compass. Time and again we are not aware of the deeper ethical values that force our choices, and we may even be unaware to the fact that the decisions or choices we are making have a moral aspect.

        The relationship between ethics and critical thinking can be strong and can be frail. The policy and principals of critical thinking are always valid to ethical reasoning. Ethical decision making will always be needed in order to be fair and not bias towards anyone’s religion, sex, race, etc.

Ethics is defined as reasoned study of what is morally right and wrong. Critical thinking active and orderly process of communication, problem solving, evaluation, analysis, synthesis, and reflection, both individually and in community, to foster understanding, support sound decision making, and guide action. With ethical reason, the principles of communication, analysis, evaluation, and problem solving from critical thinking should be used.  With the definition to these two, critical thinking and ethics should come hand in hand. One main problem with this is that people let their emotions get the best of them while reasoning, Not having the patients to determine an issue, can cause the relationship between critical thinking and ethics to be weak.

Even though all of society followed the guidelines, rules, and logic; there would still be a need for ethical decision making. The biggest aspect of society should be treating every one fair and equal. Culture, religion, or sex should not impact on how an individual is treated. For a all business purpose, ethical decision making is needed in order to have a successful business or organization. Providing a good working environment includes treating everyone equal in the work place. Ethical decisions need to be made in order to build on success and keep the employees content.
