Globalization

In this article the author explains some of the changes he feels the world will foresee by the year 2025. Subjects that the author brings up include: wealth and power for different countries, resources such as food, energy, technology, and terrorism.

I agree with the author when he states in the first paragraph of this article that we will be “almost unrecognizable in 2025.” Change is good for the good and change isn’t always going to affect everyone the same.

Globalization is becoming more common because countries are seeing how it can affect their country by exporting, importing, and outsourcing. The United States is powerful in many ways, but you don’t have to be in the United States to advance in science and technology. It scares me to have Congress and our President in control. China has become one the most powerful countries and could possibly top the United States.

As far as the resources such as food and water, I don’t understand how we can control that. The high prices of food and lack of water depend on the climate. The past couple of years, the word ‘drought’ has become well known. We can’t control how much rain or snow we get. I think globally we need to prepare for situations like this. As far as the resource of energy, there are things we can control. The technology should be able to help with this. Households rely a lot on fuel. If households changed to solar energy, I think money could be saved. I can’t remember where I read this, but it sticks clear in my mind that the cars were disruptive to horses and buggies, computers were disruptive to typewriters and solar electric systems will be disruptive to the energy. However, if it saves money for the existing population, it will be accepted just as well as cars and computers for the future population.

What scares me is in 2025, what will the terrorism and gun control do to our countries? I think the article makes an important point on youth employment.
