The Global Management Consulting Firm Accenture Brings employees Face to Face

A Team of Pilipino IT professionals created Accenture’s own social network so that all of the companies worldwide employees would be able to collaborate and get an idea of who they were working with. The network was called Accenture People, much like Facebook, employees got a chance to create their own profiles. The idea behind this network was to get all their employees to be familiar with each other and to share ideas. In the Philippines alone Accenture has 15,000 employees alone, the project manager Michael Duff stated, “One of the challenges for us is collaboration.” Then he added “Different teams within Accenture have been using different tools before that allowed people to share knowledge on projects. This time we put everything into a single system.” The idea for Accenture People came from a Leadership Development Program in the United States. The task of building a social networking tool fell to Duff’s team. The network was launched only last December, and already175, 000 employees have already created files. Employees can create blogs, and participate in discussion forums to ask for help on certain projects. There is also a search button that employees can use to search older blogs in order to resolve a problem.

1.How does the Accenture People site help Accenture better serve its customers?

I believe that the Accenture people site will help employees better serve its customers because anytime a customer has a problem or an issue with something, the employee is able to log onto the network and search all of the blogs that are available to him and see what has worked in the past to resolve a certain issue. If the problem cant be solve by that certain employee then he/she is able to right way find someone who would be able to resolve the customers problem.
