Executive Summary

This report is authorized by Jay Leighton who is the unit coordinator of International Human Resource Management of Curtin University. It tends to investigate and analyze both positive and negative aspects of ethical and social responsibility problems which are hiring of child labor and unsatisfactory workplace environment. However, research results may be limited because of restricted time and scale for searching. According to the research, it found that child labor was an unethical behavior which violated social responsibility standards. Moreover, the unsatisfactory working environment of organizations would damage employees’ health and live status. Both of them can be recognized under certain conditions. Therefore, the uniform standard can be set up to supervise the ethical and social responsibility performance of organizations.

Introduction

In the course of economic development, different kinds of social responsibility problems appeared constantly which against ethical standards of human and social ideology. Formerly, moral and social responsibility might not be considered as essential factors within the operation of a company. Nevertheless, business performance of corporation is no longer the only element which will be emphasized in today’s economic activities. People are more prefer to judge a corporation in terms of its ethical norms and social performance. Indeed, in the field of human resource management (HRM), several thought-provoking issues of social and ethical responsibility are stressed globally. Therefore, most organizations strive to attain desirable and ethical outcomes for economic activities and human resource management.

This business report has been authorized by Jay Leighton who is the unit coordinator of International Human Resource Management (IHRM) of Curtin University. In the report, several ethical and social responsibility issues of IHRM practices will attempt to be evenly and critically discussed which are hiring of child labor and unsatisfactory workplace environment. The objectives of this business report tend to investigate and analyze both negative and positive aspects of these two issues that associate with IHRM practice, in order to obtain different recommendations to minimize or solve the problems. In addition, some academic and empirical resources will be used to support the analysis and opinions in the report. Mainly, a clear and concise executive summary is established to cover all essential parts of the report at the beginning. After that the fundamental structure and some background information will be briefly introduce. And then two ethical and social issues which are hiring of child labor and unsatisfactory workplace environment will be discussed on detail. In the following part of recommendation, several solutions and action plans can be known by readers. Finally, the conclusion
