EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Polyester film is a high-performance film made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin. The most produced and demanded polyester film is BoPET film. It has applications in flexible packaging, printing on films, metalizing of films, lamination of sheets, as an insulating material, food packaging, as decorative cover on books and many other applications in marine, science, electronics and aviation industries. World BOPET film demand has been growing by 7.0% every year. World has reached a capacity of 3-4 million tonnes per annum production in this year. Polyester film industry in India is growing at faster rate. Indian manufacturers of polyester film together produce 0.5-0.6 million TPA. Some of major manufacturers of film are Jindal poly films ltd, Cosmo films, SRF and Sumilon polyester ltd. Tapadia Polyesters Private Limited is a Small and medium enterprise which has installed capacity of 15000 TPA.  It produces film of thickness ranging from 8-23 micron.  It marketed its polyester film under the brand ‘T-PET’. It produces five types of polyester films.  These film types vary on thickness, properties and applications. Polyester film manufacturing industry has high elasticity of demand, so film price fluctuates between Rs. 80/Kg to Rs 120/Kg for domestic customers and between 1.3 USD to 1.5 USD base price (excludes tax duties) for international customers. It follows both Make-to-order and Make-to-stock methods. 65% of its sales go to dealers and 35% directly to customers. Its main raw material suppliers are JBF and Gokulnath.
