Strategy is choosing what to do and what to give up. Given the limitation of resource and capability, both organizations and individuals are unable to do do everything they want to do and commit as much as they are supposed to. For a company, the very first choice is to select a industry to enter while an individual has to select his life pattern as well as career. In this case, strategy turns out to be the mindset of trade off. Based on its version, mission or value beliefs, strategical judgement over the macro environment will be helpful for choosing the optimal direction to go.

Besides, strategy lies in how to it, which means attaching different priority to different choices and investing corresponding into them. There are plenty of ways to reach a certain goal and there are even more choice for living one's life. Competitive competence can be acquired from cost-leadership through better control of operation procedure or differentiation through the outstanding product design. And one can climb up the career ladder to C-suite an technology expert or a marketing manager. In order to grasp opportunities with advantages in competency, using strategy to guide an individual through the way may benefit a lot. After giving certain priority to different activities, he or she will be able to arrange time and effort accordingly.

No strategy is going to succeed without execution. All departments in a company should collaborate as a whole to ensure the action plan goes on smoothly. As an individual, strategy, as a whole picture will be the reference to coordinate routine activities to benefit integrated development of hard skills, soft skills and work-life balance.

Last, good strategy is conductive for adapting transformation. Modern society has been developing at a remarkable pace, diversified needs and technology achievement are driving the changes in every industry. Meanwhile, one’s aspiration experiences changes.
