Abstract

Measurement is a process. In a manufacturing process, many small attributes contribute to the variance of the process output. These attributes obtained from a single operator, procedure, materials presented, machinery, and the environment of the process. The level of variance differentiated between the calculations of the cost and benefit of the impact of the results of the process. The Statistical Process Control tool used to monitor consistency of variance within the process. Administering the SPC allows confirmation of whether or not the process is in control by producing consistency and identifying the control limits.

The process observed is a process used by an Academic Counselor at University of Phoenix. The natural variations characterized were according to if the strategy that the Academic Counselor used worked or not by the end of the workday to track the process of variation. If the process worked, the Academic Counselor returned to that same strategy the next day. If the process did not work, the Academic Counselor tried a different strategy and continued to track the process outcome.

Statistical Process Control

The (SPC) Statistical process control administered using statistical techniques to analyze and measure variations within the manufacturing process or processes observed. SPC used to monitor the quality of the product and maintain the target outcome. The quality control measures the statistical techniques and improves the quality of the process or processes evaluated through SPC and additional techniques such as experimental design, process capability analysis, variation reduction, and process improvement planning.

The control chart is a tool used in SPC as a graphical representation of descriptive statistical data for quantitative measures of the manufacturing process.
