Robin Hood Case Analysis

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

Robin Hood has one true enemy in Nottingham, the High Sheriff. Robin Hood seeks vengeance against him and enlists his men to aid him in getting it. The conflict soon arises when the Merrymen he has enlisted do not see eye to eye with Robin, and do not have the same vision that he has. Because of Robin's anger with the Sheriff, his vision becomes somewhat clouded and there does not seem to be a strategy or plan of action in place. Robin realizes that his decision will impact many people, and had selfishly never addressed this idea before. He was focused on the number of people in his clan, and not on their quality. It is recommended that Robin Hood seek an alliance with the Barons in order to gain some balance and put this conflict to rest.

BACKGROUND:

There are many problems within the Robin Hood Case that seem as though they need to be addressed. Primarily, Hood should set his conflicts and disagreements with the Sheriff aside, because they seem to be getting in the way of his ability to make the right choices on behalf of his Merrymen as a whole. The fact that the Merrymen are experiencing success is leading to a large amount of less fortunate people in the public wanting to join in, which has resulted in the loss of control, and Robin counts on others to inform him of what's actually happening. This way of operating must be changed or it will not be easy for them to remain an organization. The people need supplies, food, shelter, and feelings of safety, and if this can't be provided then they will not survive.

Possible Courses of Action

Robin Hood and his men would benefit from a common marketing tactic where they take by assessing their current situation's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, commonly known as a SWOT analysis. This would provide for an easier way to see where they are doing well, where they need to improve, and enable them to work towards setting productive objectives for the future. Also it will allow him to make the decisions of where to defend and where to attack. The original mission of the group is simply to seek revenge, however the mission could be enhanced if they revisit the objectives and reasons that the Merrymen congregated in the first place; the idea of stealing from the rich and giving to the poor.

The changing of their objectives and mission will not go without some heated discussion and battle, however it will be important for everyone
