INTRODUCTION


        Bataan has always been one of the provinces in the Philippines that embodies a humble but thriving community. With its strategic peninsular location which is bounded in the west by the South China Sea and in the east by the Manila Bay – the gateway to the Philippines’ political, social and economic center, Bataan shows a potential for growth in its industrial aspects especially in the marine and fisheries industry.

Mariveles, Bataan is one of the twelve (12) municipalities in Bataan. It has the largest population in the province based on the recent census conducted by the PSA. In relation to this, this municipality is one of the places that foreign investors are eyeing for to invest their business in. Currently, the Bataan Economic Zone is located in Mariveles is taking its course to a remarkable progress that is attracting businessmen all over the world.

The province also boasts of its marine and fisheries industry. They have been known to be one of the best supplier of seafood especially on all types of shellfish such as crabs, mussels, oysters, shrimp and more. Some locals are even expressing their creativity by innovating these products into something and make it their source of income.

We drew inspiration from these people and came up with the current product we are proposing. Seafood restaurants are all over Mariveles serving the freshest ingredients that they can offer. Even so, we are able to innovate and still come up with a product that none of the restaurants around Mariveles offer; a seafood pizza.

The idea was then conceptualized after evaluating and asking questions such as “What will represent Mariveles the best when it comes to the municipality’s specialty?”. We chose mussels as our base ingredient because it’s abundance will make it easier for access and create our product. We also considered that pizza is one of the most loved food by people no matter what age group they are from and lastly, for even a healthier option, we added spinach leaves for flavor. And what’s more special in our pizza that no other pizza parlors serve within Bataan is that we are serving our pizza in a black dough which is a product of squid ink.
