MasterBrand strives for career development, which is an area that we feel they can continue to develop in. As noted from the information on MasterBrand, they offer employees the opportunity to attend training, both internal and external, to help develop critical skill sets. They also have a Mentor program that employees may participate in and a tuition reimbursement program for those employees who seek to continue their education. However, with all of these great opportunities and programs already in existence, MasterBrand and our group, feel that increasing employee engagement in the career development plan will create an opening to further competitive advantage and come out of the current economic situation strong.

Many companies feel that in order to establish employee engagement, it must be done through monetary rewards. Although this approach has proven to work for some companies in the past, we feel that with the stressed economy, MasterBrand will be better off enhancing employee engagement through non-monetary incentives, such as recognition towards employees.

One of the best ways to increase engagement is to help the MasterBrand employees understand how important they are to the well-being of the company. We feel that to achieve this, implementing an employee of the month spokesperson program would be a non-monetary incentive that would strongly encourage employee engagement and help them realize how important they are to the company. The employee will be selected by vote from their co-workers based on work they have completed, their ability to work well with co-workers, and their appreciation for the company. In result, the selected employee will attend an end of the month meeting with managers and executives in where they will be able to discuss their and other employees work ideas to create a more open communication channel and to give employees an opportunity to further develop their career.
