Executive Summary

The purpose for Mainville Estates conducting this business plan was to determine the necessary steps to starting up a winery in the National Capital region. Effort was made to ensure the information was as accurate to make the idea as real as it could possibly be. The industry was studied to determine the competitors, the market trends and the potential sales. A marketing plan was developed to determine the target market, how the product was going to be marketed and promoted. The business plan analyzed all the aspects of the business, with description of how the product will look, how customers will see the winery upon arrival and the price they will pay for the products.

A feasibility study was conducted to determine if there is a demand for the product and if the winery could earn a profit at year’s end. The study determined what business the winery was in and how it could differentiate its self from others in the industry. Finally, the most important part of the study was to determine whether or not to proceed with the business idea.

The final part of the business plan incorporates the financials which is the important part which determines the profit margin, the break-even point and start-up costs. The Financial plan included a personal net worth statement, an income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement for 12 months and key financial ratios. These numbers are essential to determining if the business will be successful or not.

As Mainville Estate has completed the business plan, the business idea to start a winery in the National Capital Region is a great idea and has the potential to become a large company in the future. Management feels confident that with strong effort to continuously improve the quality of the wines and with effort to ensure each customer experiences the time of their lives that the winery will be successful and profitable for ever.
