  1. Historical Background of Company

Global Food, Inc. is a seafood manufacturer and exporter company that is founded by Patriarch of the family, Mr. Greg Sy in 1986.  It started with 10 people primarily exporting Frozen Squid Balls to Hong Kong market.   As the business grew, the market and product also expanded.  It has been in business for almost 20 years.

In 1989, the business was passed on to Mrs. Jesica Sy and her son, Wilson Sy.
In 1992, exportation of shell meats to Japan was started.
In 1997 Practiced into its processing to expand market in USA. It expanded to include scallop meat. In 2000 Developed sushi items and seafood mix for Japan market. In 2004 upgraded all equipments to more sophisticated ones. Developed Korean Market and in 2005 Re-Opened Taiwan Market.

To date, Global Foods, Inc. is still a family owned business managed by members of the family.

III. Ethical Dilemmas that affects Organizational Behavior and Business Performance

Allan de Leon has been working in the company for two months now as casual at the packaging section of the seafood processing. He went to the Human Resource Department and claimed that one of his co-workers had exposed his buttocks to him, and would run his finger between his groin and would comment he likes his big arms. When Allan objected to his actions, his co-worker began calling him obscene names regularly. Allan complained that he witnessed that many male young male workers particularly those who are casuals who only work for 5 months maximum are being subjected to the same treatment at the work place by this man. Some opted to resign instead of complain to the management. Allan tried to elevate his concern to his supervisor of the bad behaviour, he was told to ignore the man’s action. The supervisor claimed that the old co-workers are already used to his “jokes” and he does not mean any harm anyway, saying,  “nakasanayan na namen ang ugali niyang ganyan.”  The supervisor also narrated that somebody reported his behaviour to the management but nothing has been done to rectify the problem anyway. The old co-worker asserted management during the complaint that the actions had occurred only as a joke in an attempt to lighten the work environment.
