Currently businesses are minimizing waste to provide more value to customers with fewer resources. The development of lean manufacturing is an approach to help companies become more profitable and provides companies with strategic principles.

Poka-yokes is an approach to mistake proofing, such as electronic locks on a car door will automatically lock when driving over a certain mileage. Overtime this becomes the behavior of an individual knowing if he or she forgets to lock the door, it will automatically lock. Flexible

credit, the system automatically blocks the new request. The system will populate a message on a claim stating a claim number was already given on a previous claim. The second element is flexible workforce whereas employees have to cross-train within their department. Employees have the obligation to cross-train and learn other job duties. This ensures the company work is always complete.

The system generates a claim number, and the customer can check the status of the request. This procedure eliminates the procedure of sales representatives and customer service filling out paperwork and waiting on approvals. To have a successful business and provide products to customers, employees are the most important as they are the individuals who inputs information. Lagasse wants to hear feedback from employees on new procedure and how the company can have a competitive advantage.

In conclusion, a company that implements lean manufacturing operates efficiently. The techniques of lean manufacturing will increase productivity, gain a competitive advantage, and reduce cost. Lean manufacturing is an approach for companies profit and revenue to increase while removing waste from the company.
