Before able to adapt in today’s time is one of the key points in the article Leading Change Adapting and innovating in an Uncertain World by Gary yuki and Richard Lepsinger. Adapt ion involves change and had become increasingly important in today’s time with economic turmoil, new technology, and steep competition. In the article by Yuki and Richard, it discusses how change is important and key elements are needs foster change in the workplace. It goes into detail about monitoring, envisioning change, and implementing change help creates a workplace for change and innovation. Numerous aspects of the article coincide with chapters one and two in New Era of Management by Richard L. Draft.

In Chapter one, Introduction to Management, the author states innovation has become the new imperative. Innovation is defined as the creation of better or more effective products, processes, services, technology, or ideas. A prime example of innovation is founder/CEO Mark Zuckerburg with his success with Facebook. He encourages a philosophy of fearlessness, even during economic slump. Facebook’s management team is increasing the engineering team, creating new ideas, and pushing his team to take risks. Because of his boldness, Facebook is listed on Fast Company’s 2010 for 50 most innovative companies. In the article’s subheading “How to Lead Change,” it stated it’s essential to embed values and beliefs that support innovation and change. In Chapter one, it clearly outline what Mark Zuckerburg has envisioned for Facebook and his heroism agree with the article about innovation.

In the world of management, It’s no secret that a manager’s job complex and multidimensional. It’s the mangers job to make sure to attain the company’s goals in an effective and efficient fashion but it’s also stated that mangers need conceptual and technical skills. Conceptual skills involve knowing how and where the team fits into the total organization. In a nutshell, you have to think strategically and smart. In the article, it states envisioning change you have to put opportunities and problems in content to see how the organizational needs to response. Also, technical skills, which understands of and proficiency in the performance of specific tasks, goes hand in hand with controlled learning practices in the article. A collective learning practice makes it possible to evaluate innovative processes to determine if they work for the organization or needs to be changed.
