INTRODUCTION

The mission is for Acme to build a store in Mexico City to seek greater profits and buffer against downturns in the U.S. market. The complex, Acme Mexico City (AMC), will be 100,000 square feet of indoor space with 10,000 additional square feet of exterior space for garden products. The complex will also include a two-story parking garage directly adjacent to the store. The store will mirror the U.S. stores in that it will feature the same core five product groups of Acme: plumbing and electrical supplies, building materials, hardware and tools, seasonal and garden/yard items, and paint, flooring, and wall coverings. The construction of AMC will take 12 months and the grand opening is scheduled for September 15, 2014.

Once the store is built, AMC will adopt the mission of our other U.S. Stores. Acme is dedicated to providing the highest level of customer service with the largest selection of products and most competitive prices for home improvement projects of any kind.

The objective of the Mexico City location is broadly to establish Acme as a legitimate player in the Mexican market. Competitors, including The Home Depot, have been conducting business in Mexico and Canada for years now and with the recent downturn in the U.S. economy, the time is right for Acme to enter the international scene. The overall corporate objective is to eventually make AMC the preferred shopping destination for anything and everything related to home improvement in and around Mexico City. Within five years of opening the store, the goal is for Acme Mexico City to mirror or exceed the market share we currently hold in the U.S.

The following document details the Project Management Plan (PMP) for the AMC Project. The plan begins on September 2, 2013 with the construction phase of the Acme Mexico City complex; therefore it is assumed that all necessary permits and licenses have been obtained to allow the building process to begin.
