Executive Summary

One thing is for sure that poverty is one of the main concerns which is leading to violence in the state, as Nearly one quarter of the population in Pakistan is classified as poor and 17.2% of the total population lives below the poverty line which is a massive figure and justifies the violence itself in Pakistan, Applying the concept of relative poverty here, which states that having fewer resources or less income as compared to a society or a country is one of the major concerns that our country is facing around this time. There’s a high demand for essential items which is needed by poor and those essential items are too expensive to fall under the poor’s zone of income and the social sector budget doesn’t contributes much towards the poor income groups which is creating more of a trouble among masses, now reverting back to the statement of poverty leading to violence, The problems mentioned above is driving poor to strive for their rights but the adverse condition of Pakistan state is not letting those voices be heard to the higher authorities which is resulting in people being more of an autocrat against the government and spreading violence throughout the country.

Another reason can be contributed to the lack of education in this 3rd world state, Poor’s cannot afford education because the education itself in a good institution is highly expensive and the governmental schools doesn’t have the adequate skills to run a proper school, thus they don’t know about the modern means to earn their income with nor they have idea about the new technologies that can enhance their wisdom, also this leads to creation of huge gap between the one’s with the Education and the ones who are uneducated, this gap leads to a layer of jealousy, rivalry and class differentiation, and those who feels underlined regarding their rights to have education are causing violence out of jealousy and in-order to escape the ground reality that Education is the major factor to once improvement, the people below the poor line are considering this as a manipulation by western society which needs to be taken care of.

One main reason can be attributed for poverty is the social dishonesty and irresponsible behavior of people. Everyone is trying to get rich by using unfair means. A shop keeper is ready to get whole money from the pocket of customer. People doing jobs are not performing their duties well. In society the man considered brave or respectful who do not pay taxes or continuously violate the laws. This irresponsible behavior continuously increases and produces loss for the country, which on the other hand is ragging a layer of animosity and disturbance among the people below the poverty line that neither the government is taking a step to stop this bias attitude nor the local citizens are somewhat raising their hands in order to protect the rights of the poor, this exploitation has led to the people below the poor line to make their own move, hence stealing, snatching, fraud and theft has become a common statement in order to show their rage within the country.

This all is leading towards a very difficult time ahead on the poor class within the country as the wide spread of disease is following in the country because of the contaminated water, low class medicines, unhygienic food which can be afforded by poor and disease cannot be controlled as the medicines are too expensive and there is less government control for poor community, Infants born into the poverty line raises the stress of these poor families more because their survival has a very less chance with the situation that they’re living in, poor families experience more burden and pressure on them besides the financial crises, they face series of negative event and uncertainty along with bad luck which includes illness, depression, job loss, criminal victimization and family death, Homeless families experience even greater life stress than other families, including increased, family relationships, and friendships, Now with these current situation mentioned above, One is likely to take any step in order to save their own family from such harsh conditions or to increase his own living standard, the person thinks of negative ways in-order to become rich over night, hence violence is considered as the only major in order to succeed his goals, and with lack of Management from government and hardly any police control in the country, these people below the poverty line have unlimited access to weapons and ammo and they find it very easy to take a short way out in order to get rich rather than earning their way ahead which is not likely to happen in near future.

Crime statistics of all four provincial capitals of Pakistan is always on the rise. According to the report recently published in 2015, there were 13276 murders, 329 gang rape, 81520 robberies and 33243 vehicle thefts in total. The province of Punjab leads the list of crimes in all the 4 categories of murder, gang rape, robberies and vehicle thefts mentioned. It further proves the point mentioned earlier in the text of how the crime rate and violence is increasing as people within the poverty line are taking law in their own hands .

The exploitation of poor, The stress and depression to overcome the family problems that exist below the poor line, the ever growing jealousy among the rich and the poor which depicts the class difference, poor frame work of government and lack of social sector contribution with an overly poor security control in the nation pushes the group below poverty line to take law in their own hands which is leading towards a hostile layer of violence in the country, on the other hand if we look at from a poor families perspective, they’re left with no choice except to take charge of the situation negatively as there is no positive approach left to search for and implement it, this framework pushes one towards intense violence in-order to take their rights by any means necessary, hence poverty and violence are strong forces related to each other.
