Tip Top Markets, located in the southeastern of the United States, is a regional chain of supermarkets. The manager of one of the stores – Karen was annoyed because she received a huge number of complaints from customers, especially on Tuesdays. Therefore, she collected the complaints from the service desk for the last nine Tuesdays. After some examinations, the problems are mostly related to employees, prices, cleaning, quality and stock.

On July 15, changes were implemented in order to enhance the quality of the store, hence a decrease in the number of complaints. However, those problems continued to occur in the last two weeks so the situation was not fixed. This means the management of the store is not adequate in order to increase the store quality. The report will provide a number of recommendations to deal with the customers’ complaints.

Basically, there are four recommendations. One of the way to combat the number of complaints is for Tip Top Markets start addressing the out-of-stock problem ahead of the other categories of complaints. After addressing the problems, they should focus on the category with the highest number of complaints. This process should continue until other major categories are addressed. Tip Top Markets also should found a financial source to deal with other financial problems. Another recommendations is for the Purchasing Department to start scouting for supplies that are not affected by the flood in recent months. They should also look for other suppliers with sound financial backing and proven track record of honoring delivery commitments. Finally, a Quality Team should be established to take care of monitoring customers complaints and address them as soon as possible.
