The Guardian and seven other leading publishers cooperated with Google to create a platform that would allow a faster mobile usage for customers. On October 7, 2015 across the publishers’ media outlets, they released a new publishing technology that is called Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP). Currently, the AMP Project is under development, and the parties engaged in the development are soon to issue a full public release. The platform is intended to create a faster and open mobile web for customers and give more autonomy and flexibility for publishers. The reason this platform is being created is to enhance a user experience and develop effective advertising for the mobile web that would not affect the page loading time. There would be one and open standard for every publisher to build pages “to their own spec within a more appropriate framework for mobile” (Danker, 2015). Publishers, as the Guardian stated, hope that this platform would shape the media evolution and contribute to greater causes (Danker, 2015).

This information is useful to students of media, as this platform would enable a fast distribution of the news and articles across the globe. Any person in any country would be able to get real-time news about what is happening around the world. The AMP Project is essentially about connecting publishers and their customers. The former would be able to produce content that meets customers’ expectations, and the latter would be able to enjoy high-quality and fast-loading articles, and hence shape “the media evolution” (Danker, 2015).
