Statement of Purpose of Shovon Pal

Research is extensively expanding on the next generation communication network architecture and the data coverage development. This will be the most noticeable reason for cherishing research work on this area of research. I have completed undergraduate degree majoring in telecommunication engineering from the North South University (NSU) and currently working as a Research Assistant on the Next Generation Cellular Network research group at NSU. Focusing my interest on the Heterogeneous Network research and development of the network architecture would be the most noticeable and acceptable reason to pursue my Master’s Degree at the “NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering” emphasizing research on “Advance Telecommunication Networks and Engineering”.

I had a strong preference for fundamental science and mathematics since my schooling life. Combining my aspiration and desire, it was the only choice to get engage myself with the science and engineering study. So keeping all the aspects in mind I took Electronics and Telecommunication major at my undergraduate level. From the beginning of my university, I discovered how innovative while having fun could be learning basic electronics and electrical courses. After completing my senior level of academic life, a time came to show my knowledge on digital logic designs and problem solving skills, and the platform was “2nd CITI NA Financial Case Competition”. On this prestigious platform, our team developed financial transaction system for the microfinance institutions and secured one of the top five teams out of the country. Out of the four major parts of the project, I accomplished to design the payment gateway structure and network model sections. Currently the solution we made is being implemented and used by “Grameen Bank”, the pioneering micro finance institution in the world.

As a regular IEEE Spectrum Journal   reader, I was aware of the recent advancement of the technology research around the world. The wireless nodes deployment in the warzone caught my attention, since then I had found a relevant attachment with the research work. In the course research project of ‘Data Communication’ course, I choose ‘Wireless sensor network’ topic, and investigated the routing algorithm and the power efficiency of the WSN nodes. The problem which I had worked on, was how could be these nodes could be deployed for the survival system in the remote and distress environment. This topic got more glorified when this project got accepted for a showcase at the “National Science Competition 2011” IIT Delhi as only accepted project from Bangladesh. Beside my intention for the research work, I tried to build a strong base in core telecommunication subjects like Principals of Telecommunication Networks, Mobile and Wireless Communication Systems, Digital Communication and Networking and RF Engineering. Therefore, I choose “Co-Tier Interference Mitigation in the Femtocell Network” as my final year research project under the supervision of Dr. Atiqur Rahman.
