Stop Testing on Animals

Tens of millions animals are used and killed each year in laboratories. They generally suffer fear, physical pain. Their basic psychological and physical needs are denied by some confinement. Animals are absolute victim for human's benefit. However, I wonder whether human have achieved the purpose or not. It is doubtable if animal experimentation is enough significant and valuable. So in my opinion, we should stop testing on animals. It's giving up some benefit better than meaningless sacrifice of animals.

First of all, from a moral perspective, animal experimentation is so cruel that it should be stopped. In order to access interests, people keep ignoring the miserable situation of laboratorial animals. It is necessary for us to know the truth. Animals are routinely cut open, poisoned, and forced to live in barren steel cages for years. As far as I know, much of the experimentations include pumping chemicals into rats' stomachs, hacking muscle tissue from dogs' legs. According to an article, "In British laboratories today, animals are still burned, brain damaged, and given heart attacks and electric shocks" (Langley). Thus it can be seen, most of inhumane animal experimentations are intolerable. That's why we should stop testing on innocent animals on the basis of morality.

Besides, in terms of animal rights, animals have the right to be treated humanely rather than as victims of cruel animal experiments. Ironically, the reason of animal experimenters experiment on animals is that the animals are like us. When they are asked why it is morally OK to experiment on animals, they usually say that the animals are not like us. Thus animal experimentation rests on a logical contradiction. Obviously, it is completely neglected that animals have a capacity to feel pain as humans. An animal experimenter named Steven Rose said, "It is impossible to treat a chick as if it has emotions" (Rose). They often add that nonhuman animals are inferior, lacking certain attributes compared to humans. However, many nonhuman animals demonstrate that their emotions and thoughts closely resemble those of humans. From my point of view, a chick's pain should be respected as much as that of a human baby. Animal experimentations which never respect animal rights should be stopped as early as possible.

In addition, animal experimentation can be replaced by other non-animal
