Explain the Difference Between Reasons and Causes of Wars

War is a fortified conflict between different interest groups, states or governments with extreme aggression, act of violence and destruction by the use of formal and informal military forces. The reasons for wars are the misunderstandings and miscommunications that occurs among groups, state or governments that will cause extreme aggression and violence. While, causes of wars are the objectives that the participants involved in a conflict bound to achieve in an active involvement of war. The reasons and causes of wars are intertwined based on their nature in a conflict that have been narrowed down into; socioeconomic, political and military factors. Therefore, the reasons and causes of wars include socioeconomic, political and military factors in the society.

First, socioeconomic factors are the prerequisite cause of conflict as a result of misunderstanding and miscommunication between social groups, states or governments on management and utilization of certain resources. According to Evera (2013), causes of wars have been based on the scarce resources that different groups, states or governments aims to obtain economic advantage over the other that often cause conflict. As articulated, economic resources have been a major reason for conflict in the world based on its scarce nature with the ever-growing population that require same resources. In the modern context, resources such as land and minerals have been identified as the major socioeconomic reasons and causes of wars (Cashman, 2013). Therefore, economic resources conflicts have been cited as the core indicators causes of wars over years in the world and it continues to shape the nature of wars today.

Second, political and governance factors are essential in understanding the world wars as it plays a critical role in distribution of resources and development. Based on the basic role the political class play in the society, states’ political systems and distribution of power may cause conflict that often manipulates interests that cause war (Evera, 2013). Political goal-setting and power distributions contributes to shaping of interests and opinions in the society that if not managed effectively will cause wars in such societies. It is due to human nature, that interests and development desires may often cause serious misunderstandings that are the roots of conflict that causes war (Levy & Vasquez, 2014). Thus, it is important to enhance balance in power distribution and political goal-setting that should be aligned with laws and regulations.
