DO YOU THINK I WAS GREAT? LOOK AT JESUS!

Quite frankly there were many things I didn’t understand about all the events that transpired in my life while on earth. I just lived a righteous life and reaped the benefit – joy and peace in the Lord. I didn’t know that there was more to all that happened to me until I got to heaven.

As I drew my last breath on earth, my soul went up to heaven and there I saw God for the first time. I received a resounding applause as I got here. I was told, “Welcome faithful servant, you have overcome the world.” I was given a golden crown. I saw Jesus sitting at the right hand side of God. Great grandpapa Abraham was there. My grandfather Isaac and of course my Dad were also there.

Heaven is a beautiful place and there are no human words that can adequately describe it. The best thing to do is to ensure you get here no matter what it takes. The streets are made of gold. Angels are singing. There is constant worshiping of God. There is no sickness here. We don’t get hungry, tired, worried, or weary any more. There is no struggle here. We have no need of the sun or the moon, because the glory of God lightens the whole place.

Every misunderstanding and misconception I may have had on earth was put right up here. Things that had been mysteries to me now were revealed. Issues I had been confused and perplexed about became crystal clear. For instance, while on earth, I had always wondered why God had allowed that whole episode with Zuleikha, which had caused me to end up in prison for many years for an offense I didn’t commit. While on earth, I thought the ultimate purpose of that was that I would become Prime Minister of Egypt. However, when I came here I discovered otherwise. Look at it from this point of view: If the whole essence of holding on to God was to achieve earthly honors, what would happen if I dropped dead? What would become of my throne after I was gone, what of all my riches after my burial, what of all the affluence and the fact that people bowed down to me? All that would be unimportant and meaningless in the end, wouldn’t it? All will be vanity!

Assessing one’s life from heaven gives it a totally different meaning. I finally understood that, yes, holding unto God had helped me to fulfill my dreams and visions while on earth, but what God really had in mind for me was infinitely greater than becoming the second most powerful man in Egypt. I came to realize that whatever a person might become on earth is just for while he is alive. The day death comes knocking, everything ends except the relationship one has or hasn’t with God; the former will bring a person to heaven, the latter to eternal hell fire. Just think about that - long and hard, friend, don’t put it off! What is the essence of life?!

What shall it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?
