Camera work: The stalker will be mostly concealed with uses of shot composition and close ups. This will create suspense to the viewer, as the girl will be unaware of the person following her. There will be a small use of handheld camera to show perspective of the stalker, when he runs after the girl the handheld camera will be used to give the effect that thing are getting out of control (by the shaking of the frame). The man in in the car park will be filmed with some wide shots so the audience can see his friends mucking around in the background. In effect this will create the assumption that the man is kind, and is having a casual night out with his friends, posing no threat to the girl. As a result the audience will relax from their suspense.

Lighting: Light will be an important element in this film, it will be used to create the different moods the audience must feel in order to prepare themselves for the shock ending. When the girl is in the bush the lighting will be dark and cold with, this will create suspense as the lighting will help conceal the stalker and make him appear more dangerous. When the girl reaches the car park the light will be brighter and warm with, so in effect the audience believes she is safe up until the very end.

Symbolism: Costume and setting will be used to connote the idea of the praying mantis as a natural predator to the lady bug. The girl will wear a red dress with white spots on it, man and stalker will wear dark green and black clothing. In effect there will be a strong visual contrast between the two characters; also a connection can be made with the girl being like the lady bug and the stalker being like the praying mantis. With uses of trees and other natural materials in the setting will also help create the idea of nature’s food chain, where the girl is tragically helpless because it’s just nature taking its course.
