Essay:

It seems that children these days have better condition to develop thanks to the rising living standard and the high education level of their parents. However, a problem among many children is that most of their free time is spent on TV or computer games. This essay will make an attempt to examine the effects of this habit and offer some solutions to improve the situation.

First of all, it is a fact that this bad habit can have several negative impacts on children themselves, their families and the society as a whole. It cannot be denied that children can relax, develop their language skills and learn many things by watching TV or playing computer games. However, such things may affect their formation of characters negatively since some programs and games have violent contents or sexy pictures. In addition, watching TV or using the computer too much may cause some health problems such as obesity, poor eyesight. Evidence shows that children who spend most of their time on such activities are less active. As regards their families, children may become more isolated as a consequence of this bad habit and they tend to care less about other members of their families. Sometimes, they may have strange behaviours as they imitate what they see on TV or online games. More seriously, they have offensive behaviours when they grow up. This is, of course, a real concern for the whole community and the society. In Vietnam, many young people commit crime simply because of the influences of computer or online games
