In 1961 YKK spreads its wings to Malaysia, the first ever-foreign affiliate in South Asia. Operations started fully in 1962 when the company under the name of MALAYAN ZIPS SDN. BHD. was incorporated with the completion of a factory in Johor Bahru. Since then they have come a long way from manufacturing our first product the ‘Metal Zipper’. Their products have now included the Nylon Zipper, Vislon, Concealed Zipper and a wide range of fastening products.
The date March 22, 2005 has flagged an important dimension in the company history where YKK Group is now the majority shareholder of MALAYAN ZIPS SDN. BHDWith the intention to upgrade, YKK has obtained the approval from the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (MIDA) for an expansion/modernization project of MALAYAN ZIPS SDN. BHD. At the same time, in order to reflect the corporate identity, the current company’s name shall be changed to YKK (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD.
In line with the ASAO group’s motto “COMMUNICATION & TEAMWORK” the immediate step to improve communication and for the purpose of cost consolidation, the Headquarter has been relocated from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru. Besides that, the implementation of WAVE’s system, ISO14000 and investment in new machinery are part and parcel of leveraging our competitiveness with other YKK groups worldwide.
The new Management team is committed and will remain focused on meeting the needs of our customers, offer higher quality products and ensure timely delivery and improving customers’ relationship, with the objective to “Act Local, Think Global”.
