The managers must promote the diverse work environment, the development, recruitment performance and marketability of the corporation in a global environment. The management of a diverse workforce begins with the calculation of your diversity mix as it applies to your customer base or measurable market numbers, compiled thru a internal or ext renal audit process. These numbers can help an organization determine their cultural mix. The diversity can improve naturally based on demographics and natural attrition. The human resources manager has the responsibility of creating and maintaining a diverse workforce, while minimizing the potential for employment discrimination allegations.

The maintenance of a diverse work force require aggressive management techniques through a strong leadership base for a British retailer came up with "recognize and respond to individual differences" (Foster C., 2005) the result of an aggressive top down corporate philosophy will have significant result in the rapid growth, when a corporation becomes a leader in building and maintaining cultural diversity they build this on communication, education and implementation of a zero tolerance policy of employment or workplace discrimination. This type of policy reinforces and stabilizes the intercultural relationships. The common issues and challenges were the enforcement of a zero tolerance policy on employment and work place environment, the ongoing education of the work force with annual updates through a network of computer based training modules that reduced the potential incidence of an unfounded or frivolous discrimination complaint.

The opportunities were vast in the reduction of discrimination complaints, the implementation of a diversity policy coupled to a new found awareness of each individual's co workers culture differences with an acceptance of the differences
