Jewish Home of the Aged is a facility for older adults providing multiple and unique care and service needs at different income levels. It is a nonprofit organization of San Francisco Bay Area at Silver and Mission. It is located at 302 Silver Avenue, San Francisco, California. It is owned by Home Aged Disabled Hebrew with area lot of 377,447 square feet. The facilities are like a community with 1,200 patients and residents. The facilities have for four buildings namely Edward and Marion Goodman Building (Annex Building), Koret Center, Howard A. Friedman Pavilion and Barbara & Richard Rosenberg Family Center.

With the generous support from the community, the Jewish Home’s high standards for quality care and services resulted to the additions of the facilities. It has grown and expanded its facilities and services due to its changing needs of elders and their families. It has several services units i.e. short-term and rehabilitation, geriatric, interdisciplinary rehabilitation, psychiatry and nursing care. Also, the facility has new modern kitchen, state-of-the-art medical clinics, and geriatric research center. Their teaching and research is affiliated with the University of California, San Francisco.

The Jewish Home’s vision is to “become a regional resource as an integral part of a continuum of care throughout the Bay Area that provides senior adults with a variety of life enriching programs and services that are accessible, promote individual dignity, encourage independence, connect them to their community, and reflect the social, cultural, and spiritual values of Jewish tradition.” (Jewish Home Employee Handbook, 2012.) Their mission is to enrich the quality of life of older adults. Jewish Home provides an environment that encourages people to learn and flourish. Their mission can be achieved only through the unified efforts of staff, volunteers, clients, and their caregivers.

The Jewish Homes have more than 700 employees. There are 300 non-union employees and 400 plus union employees- exempt, no-exempt and hourly. The cook, maintenance, environmental services, stewards, food services, CNAs and LVNs are the union workers- full time, part-time and on-call under Local 2 and Local 250. The non-union employees are composed of the management, administrative, security guards and registered nurses. The union workers are under a collective bargaining agreement with specified benefits programs including the rate of pay scheduled for three years. The non-union employees’ wages and salaries are given in a yearly basis based on their fiscal year. Their benefit programs are summarized consist of the following:
