Online vs campus

I have met many people who have started a carrier after their diploma, but are wondering about earning a degree. Almost every person has a busy schedule and their eventful routine may not allow them to attend classes on campus. Online education is a viable option for those with a hectic lifestyle. Online learning offers flexibility, save time, ease of communication and cost-effective choices.

Attending a degree program on campus means you have to attend classes on a specific time, on a specific location which you may not be able to attend everyday due to your busy agenda. As a result you may not get the 80% attendance and have to repeat the semester again. This strengthens the course duration which in turn burdens you of the course. On the other hand, online learning offers access to the institution from anywhere anytime no matter your work schedule. A computer with internet access is enough to attend classes online. On campus studying, students listen to the lectures at the spot while online learning allows easy access to the lectures and they can review the lessons any number of time. In addition to this, students have a wider range of options for degree programs. Some colleges offer degree programs which might not be available in nearby campus.

Not only the schedule flexibility adds in to the benefits of online education, but also the time saving option is a useful one. On campus based education, students have to sit for long hours of lessons but in online courses lessons can be paused anytime and reviewed later. According to a study by the U.S. Department of Education (DOE, 2010) Students in online learning education grossed better results than those learning on campus.

Apart from saving time, web based classes help to increase student interaction by avoiding peers and face-to-face conversation with the lecturers. Some will feel a bit nervous when it comes to commenting in the classroom. But online classes allows time to think longer before they want to say anything and students feel more comfortable to interact with their teachers openly though online chatting and group discussions.
