Dear Diary,

This is my first time writing in a diary. My name is Zaina Hussein Khan; I am 14 years old, living a perfect life in New York City. My family and 3 best friends are my major support, without them I don’t know what I would do. Sanha, Ashley, and Brittany are my 3 best friends for life. And today was one of the best days of my life, we made a promise, that we will remain best friends forever.

In my family, I have a Mother, a Father, a Little brother, a Grandfather and a Grandmother, we all live in one house. It can be very exasperating at times, but overall it is quite fun. I love the way everything is, I wouldn’t want it any other way.

My school, St. George’s Catholic school, even though I am a Muslim, but I still go to it, and I really like it there, I enjoy every minute in that school. Anyways I better get to sleep; I have another amazing day of school tomorrow.

As I approached my house, I felt like my heart had stopped beating. I saw the top of my house burning, furiously. I ran as fast as I could to the front of the house, except there was no front left, most of the
