1. Introduction

1.1 Backgrounds

With the global economic development and the globalization, the education resources competition has raised to a new level. An increasing number of people want to enter university to receive higher education, especially attending university with high reputation to have tertiary education. Based on data supplied by Higher Education Statistics Agency limited, percentage of International Students in UK’s universities was on average of 15% (Statistical First Release ,2013)However, what kind of capabilities people have to be accepted to university will optimize the education effects and benefits to society. It needs some scientific research to guarantee the enrollment conditions to be reasonable.

This description is to report the higher education entrance requirements and students’ language level and academic capabilities performances. And help educational institutions assessing the satisfaction of current admission requirements in order to expand higher education. Therefore, the hypothesis of this report is the admission requirements for overseas students are set too high which will limit their choice in pursuing high education in the UK.

1.2. Methodology

The survey was conducted by a group of two members. At first, the hypothesis was raised basing on the topic about challenge on higher education study. Through integrating different opinions, we designed 10 questions in different types including single choices question, multiple choices question and open question. The initial questionnaire was written in the forms of draft and tried by 4 classmates. Then we restructed questions based on feedbacks. Afterwards, the survey was filled by pre-university students in Cardiff University. The interviewees were selected randomly. They were from different colleges such as business school, chemistry school and law school. The majority of respondents applied for master program while the others are bachelors. After gathering the data, some information was released by the way of diagrams using data analysis.
