INTRODUCTION

Power is the word that are sought by people in the organization in order to influence other. So, the power could be defined as the capacity to exert influence over others. The power could be based on the position of the person ranging from assistant to CEO or any other position in the organization (Position Power). There are four categories in this type of power which are: legitimate power which is derived from the position in the organizational hierarchy. The second category is reward power that is derived from an individual's capacity to administer valued rewards to others. Coercive power is the individual power base derived from the capacity to administer punishment to others. The last category is the information power which is a supervisor has a power by virtue of the information available to him or her.

The second type of Power is Personal Power that derives because of one's individual qualities or characteristics. In this Type there also four basic categories that are; rational persuasion which is considered the most frequently used approach in organization and the key tactic for exerting influence. Another type is expert power which is derived from an individual's recognized superior knowledge, skills or abilities in certain area. Referent power is the third type of personal power which is derived from the degree to which one is liked and admired by others. The last type of personal power is charisma which is defined as the attitude of enthusiasm and optimism that is contagious; an aura of leadership.
