Motivation Plan

Leadership and motivation are essential for employees to maintain morale and productivity. A management team that takes time in developing a plan to keep their employees inspired to be successful will increase their success of keep the employee. Motivation can help employees to see an insight and help push them to new highs in their career.

To develop a motivational plan, learn what motivates the staff. Brainstorming session in which the manager asks the employee what motivates the team and each member. “It also can be beneficial to ask employees to recall an incident they could work with an employee to improve the worker’s productivity” (Joss, 2013). The goal is to inquire for specific actions the manager can use to help motivate employees and the team. A leader should work with team member’s inputs and make sure the employees are meeting goals and objectives.

Employees mainly are motivated by challenges presented in their everyday work tasks. Employees who have repeated work duties seem to be unhappy and unmotivated at work. A proactive manager is always looking for new ways to challenges his or her team members. “It can be creating new production goals each month and attaching a bonus to each employees that exceeds goals, or it can be the option to be trained on a different job to extend an employee’s skill set” (Anderson, 2013). One way managers can motivate his or her employees is to act as a role model and inspire employees to discover what he or she is passionate at work to do; provide them with some projects in their area of interest or passion (Quast, 2012). Developing these goals for the team can help motivate dominate and interactive personalities on the team. Dominate personalities are motivated by winning, challenges, and new opportunities (Alessandra, 2013). Interactive personalities motivate by the chase, attention, and opportunities to talk (Alessandra, 2013). By giving the interactive personalities the ability to set new goals for the team or even giving them the attention they need for a job well done can help to keep them motivated. The dominate personalities have the option for a new opportunity with allowing options to train for a different job.

Clearly define the organizations mission, vision, strategies as well as goals and objectives for each employee (Quast, 2012). Making sure that each team member understands the role they play in contributing to the success of the company. Each employee should be in alignment toward a general goal so the team can work together and help each other out to obtain the goals. Devising a defined mission, goal or vision can help to keep both interactive and dominate personalities on the same wavelength and make sure that each member helps others out when is need. A positive team energy can help to motivate everyone on the team.
