Describe the human resource manager’s role from the Human Resource Manager’s viewpoint.

The role of human resource manager is one that has many hats. On any given day that hat changes with the situation the human resource manager is faced with. However, for the most part the HR manager’s role is to recruit/hire potential employees to fill positions within the organization who are qualified to perform the job successfully. Ensure employees have the necessary training and development to be successful in their current job role. Conduct or facilitate performance appraisals to keep the employee informed on how well they doing and what areas they need to work in. Be a strong advocate of enforcing company’s policy. To answer and explain any questions regarding wages and benefits offered by the organization. Assisting in disciplinary actions or firings of employees who are found not in compliance of company policy are a few roles of the HR manager.

Create a human resource management strategy for the retail store.

There are many different avenues to cover when it comes to building a successful strategy for a retail store. The recruitment, hiring and training of potential employees would be the first area the HR manager should address. Getting the right people in the appropriate positions is key to the current and future success of the store. Next, coordinate working schedules that will accommodate the newly hired employees. In the upcoming months a plan to evaluate the performance of store personnel will be needed in order to ensure the right people are in the appropriate position(s). From there, the HR manager will need to ensure the maintenance and upkeep of the store facilities along with displaying store merchandise(s). Handling of customer complaints, concerns and issues is the next level of business that the HR manager will need to address. Lastly, creating an environment that promotes teamwork is important. Employees will come to work and give 100% when they know that what they do is appreciated and they feel they are a valuable asset to the to the organization (or store). Everyone coming working as a team, to get the job done and giving the best customer service is what counts at the end of the day.

Propose three (3) methods to improve the human resource functions at the retail store.

Three methods that would improve human resource functions at the retail store would be customer service, team work and training and development. Customer service is the corner stone of all retail store success. It is truly “the first ingredient of every successful retail enterprise and the cornerstone of all retail training”.
