FAQ – Assignment 1

How should I structure my personal reflection?

For this assignment, you should follow a conventional essay structure: introduction, main body, and conclusion.

How should I structure my introduction?

Your introduction should include the following as per slides in tutorial one.

  • Definition of entrepreneur
  • What is entrepreneurship
  • Brief summary of main argument/s
  • Brief summary of the structure of your essay

Do I need to use examples of entrepreneurs in support of my reflection on weak areas?

Yes, you need to use examples of other entrepreneurs who have these characteristics, i.e. strong where you are weak.

Can I use examples of entrepreneurs in support of my strong areas?

No, you cannot.  The assignment brief indicates that you will need to identify three strong areas and give examples of past experiences of how you demonstrated these three strengths.

What is reflection?

Reflection, for the purpose of this assignment, is serious thought or consideration to something which we might not otherwise have given much thought to. Reflection is consciously looking at, deliberately thinking about, interpreting and analysing our experiences, actions, feelings and responses—only through reflection we learn about ourselves and others.

Do I need to reflect on my weaknesses?

Yes. Please see lecture 1 slides and tutorial 1 slides.  Part 2 of assignment 1 will provide you with the necessary detail.

Do I need to submit a separate cover sheet?

No. Please affix the filled out cover sheet to your assignment and then submit these as one file.

Should my submission be in word or pdf format?

Ideally, the submission should be in word format and not pdf. However, if you feel more comfortable submitting in pdf, you will not be penalised for this.
