Defining Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship involves creating new ventures, opportunity exploration and managing risks to create value for profit and social good. The founder of this type of venture is called an entrepreneur.

Adidas Success Story

ADIDAS was found by Adolf Dassler and his brother, which was called Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory back then before their split. The company name is believed to be an acronym of “All day, I dream about Sports” and it’s a German multinational corporation. The brand is ranked as one of the World’s Most Valuable Brands that markets sports related products such as sport shoes, clothing, bags, accessories, watches and eyewear. Their slogan “Impossible Is Nothing” shows how they had successfully engage with sports figures and clubs to daily household images and general people.

Adolf started off being rivals with his brother after their split when his brother had his own brand, Puma. His unique innovative ideas and strategies increased his reputation against leading brands such as Taylormade Golf, Reebok and many other successful brands. Sportsmen like Allyson Felix, Michael Ballack and Zinedine Zidane have been associated with Adidas. Without Adidas’s involvement in sports such as football, basketball, tennis, golf, cricket, rugby, gymnastics and skateboarding, those sports teams would not be in the position where they are now. Adidas has contributed most to international football teams and clubs like A.C Milan, Real Madrid, Chelsea and recently, Manchester United. They supply football kits, referee kits and its associated equipment. Their focus is more on the successful players, public focus brands and brand extension.

Adidas had successfully created great marketing strategies and influential advertising with its current slogan “Adidas Is All In”.  It has risen to extreme heights with over 1000 stores around the world. Today they have earned 14.88 billion with the ranked of being the second largest sportswear manufacturing company in the world in 2012. Adidas has presented itself as a unified image of sports, street, music, pop culture and fashion statements creating it’s own significant existence.

Apple Inc. Success Story

Founded by Steve Jobs and his high school friend, Steve Wozniak, the company was formerly known as Apple Computer. In 2007, Jobs has renamed the company as Apple Inc. to reflect its electronic brand.

They started off in Jobs garage in the 1970s and it was initially to create phone tools that aims to avoid high fees attached to long-distance calling. Later on, Jobs and Woz created pre-built PCs for their friends and moved into making business PCs. Their key product for the next generation was the Apple II. When things were going well, Jobs needed a long-term management option for the company, so he settled for the CEO of Pepsi, John Sculley. They manage to work together for two years until their relationship turned sour. Jobs was ousted by Sculley leaving him jobless and Sculley took over the company. Since Wozniak had a piloting injury, he quit being with Apple too.
