Creating an Individual brand

1. Introduction

Sometimes the brand of an individual (personal brand) can be very powerful. For example, by answering the question ‘if I was to be reincarnated, I would like to be Jennifer Lopez’, the main reason is because she was my teenage dream girl. She is more than a singer, movie star, and also an icon from Latin America who greatly represents passion and enthusiasm. This has made the success in launching the brand of ‘J. Lo’ into the fashion market.

After over eight years work experience in Marketing, HR Benefits, and Project Management, this study provides a perfect opportunity by creating a personal brand in a strategic way to achieve my career goals. Though analytical frameworks and tools it also guilds me to positioning my brand and to enhance my distinctive competence for the future success.

2. Overall strategy

In order to bring my brand alive, it is essential to understand the market. The key variables in the marketing concept are product (which is my core and augmented competencies); promotion (selling skills); price (personal market place); place (which is Australia). First of all understanding the gap between my current situation and goals is the stepping stone, then the weakness of ability, skill or experience requires to indicate. Thus I come up with a strategic plan to achieve that goals step by step.

2.1 What are my personal goals?

Having worked three year experience in Marketing, two years in HR benefits and another three years in Project management in public sector, I have no experience in consulting. My goals are to successfully repositioning myself to a potential business consulting in three years. In the future I will dedicate myself to build up my own entrepreneur in ten years. The strategy is to maximise all the resource, understand the segment and target audiences.

2.2 Who am I?

2.2.1 Introduce myself

I am a people-focused individual. I find myself naturally and easily to communicate with others. I have great interest in numbers and good on plans. I am good at business negotiate as well as a team player.

The core value that I believe are people-focused, number-sensitive, excellent plan maker, good negotiator and committed outstanding performance. In other words, having strong communication skill, good at numbers, plan, and negotiating, as well as outstanding performance are my discrimination.

2.2.2 Personality insight

According to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®), my psychological type is ENFJ. As they quote in Table 1 below.
