It is with great interest that I am applying for the position of Investment Banking Analyst as listed on your company’s website. After learning about the position from my research and talking to various employees in your company about the position, I am excited to apply my background and skills to this position. Aspects of my background that fit well with the position are:
- Excellent multi-tasking ability: While in school, I have maintained a very high GPA while studying Economics and Chinese. At the same time, I actively participate in school activities such as being Treasurer of the China Club, acting as a leader in my dorm’s house council and hosting a weekly campus radio show. In addition, I balance my busy academic and extracurricular schedule with working 15 hours a week in an internship doing statistics and data analysis.
- Proven ability to analyze data: In my current internship, I work for the chief economist and editor of a trade magazine targeted towards the petroleum refining industry. Every week, I download key macroeconomic data and statistics in order to analyze them for trends in the oil and gas industry. I like supporting the chief economist’s work with numbers, charts, graphs and statistical analysis.
- Growing knowledge about financial markets: My favorite class right now is Financial Markets. I am enthusiastic about following major transactions in the U.S. financial markets because my class helps me understand more about capital markets and stock performance.
