Corporate social responsibility refers to business practices that initiate to benefit the society in an economic, social and environmentally sustainable manner. A business's CSR can encompass a wide variety of strategies, from allocating a portion of a company's profits to charity, to implementing greener business operations. Today's businesses are practising social responsibilities through environment efforts, philanthropy, ethical labor practices and volunteering.

One major focus of corporate social responsibility is the environment. Regardless of the size of businesses, they would have an enormous carbon footprint. Any tiny efforts put into those footprints are counted beneficial for both the company and the society as a whole.  Businesses have a lot of resources that can benefit charities and local community, therefore, many of them also practise social responsibility by donating to national and local charities. Besides, companies can demonstrate their corporate social responsibility by treating their employees fairly and ethically, which is especially important for operating in international locations. Last but not least, some companies even offer their employees a period of time for them to attend volunteer events, since volunteering is dining good deeds without expecting anything in return, which would build a positive image of those companies.  As the growing trends of consumers’s awareness about global social issues, CSR becomes one of their considerations when choosing where to shop.

Companies benefit from CSR efforts in a number of ways.  Clients want to work with ones which focused on a healthier and more productive world, enabling them to develop their projects to the highest standards of inhabitant health and energy efficiency, while creating a project in an architectural manner that reflects the mission and vision. Apparently, companies save money by operating more efficiently which is a direct benefit of CSR efforts, however the true value received from the ongoing initiatives is that of altruism.
