Abortion is a big debate amongst Americans. Some believe it should be legal while others believe it should be illegal. I read an article called “Abortion is Wrong”. In this article it states “When a woman gets pregnant, always consider the baby a blessing no matter how the child was conceived.” (http://www.christianet.com/abortionfacts/abortioniswrong.htm) The person writing this article did not think about conception being due to a person being raped. If a woman is raped and conceives they not only are going to suffer from the trauma of the rape but will be constantly reminded of it with the growing fetus inside their body as well as when the child is born. This article, while from the Christian side of things, talks only about how God creates every baby and has our lives planned. Well if that is the case then he also know that they fetus is going to be aborted. There are many different reasons why an abortion could be considered. It should not be up to anyone except for the mother to determine what she feels in the right choice to do. She is the one that has to deal with the decision that she makes whether it be to carry a fetus to full term or to terminate it. If the mother is at risk of her own safety to carry a baby and ends up pregnant there should be no question if she decides to end the pregnancy. She would not be alive to care for the baby if she were to carry it which would be living it to someone else to have to take care of. Doing that would be putting off their choice onto someone else. Another thing to think about is if the child was going to have severe mental or physical problems. There are some people who know that they will never be able to take care of a child with problems. Choosing to end a pregnancy because of these issues shows that they are thinking about the welfare of someone else not just themselves. They know that the care they would give would not be adequate and choose not to put the child through that.
