Apple Inc Logo Case Study

A logo is a design used as a symbol. Logos have been used to represent companies, corporation, clubs, organizations, etc. This is no exception for the logo of an apple with a bite taken out of the right side.

This one logo represents Apple Computer Co. The first time I was introduced to this logo was when I was in 4th grade; the school used Apple computers. At first I had no idea about logos until I was in 6th grade and then it was explained that the apple on the monitor represented that particular computer was an Apple computer. The logo on Apple computers wasn't always that style.

The first logo, which was created and was no longer used in 1976, was the Newton Crest. Later in 1976, the second logo was created and is known as the Rainbow Logo. Finally, in 1998 the Monochrome Logo, was created and is the logo that Apple uses to this day (www.edibleapple.com). There is talk of changing the logo again to an aluminum color (www.wired.com). The logo that is used for a corporation can tell you something about them.

The apple with a bite taken out of the right side is a representation of the Biblical times when Eve took a bite of the apple from the Tree of Knowledge (www.dinesh.com). I came to interpret that Apple has a sense of morals, ethics, and is knowledgeable about what the consumer wants. Something that can be portrayed is the message that someone may receive when they view the Apple logo.

When some people who don't know anything about Apple, but see their logo can often times think of the apples you eat. Others who see the Apple logo and know that the logo does in fact belong to Apple will associate the logo with Apple and will often times think of Apple's products. For instance, someone who owns a Macintosh and views the Apple logo will associate it with their computer.
