“What is Accounting Information System? What is the importance why we need to study the software? Is Peach Tree will be helpful to future CPA’s like us?”

These were the questions on my mind as the first semester starts and there is a subject of Accounting Information System. At first I thought it was like an IT subject where I need to code and program accounting. But as day went by in the subject for almost three months, I learned that it is an Accounting Software that helps Accountants and other people who are related in business and accounting to easily record all the transactions happened in the company, stores and process data to produce information especially financial statements that will be use by the decision makers; it’s like collecting data and encoding in the software and interpreting on the information.

As I and my group mates start to use the software as if we are employees on the company JETSET, I learned lot of things about it and I am amazed how fast the reports were finished after we encoded the transactions. I recommend using the Peach Tree Software because it is easy to understand and quick responsive to use. As future accountants, I can now see the importance of this software, most of the companies in business world uses accounting software for their accounting transactions. Being proficient using this will be a great advantage and is significant to our career success. I may intend to pursue a career in an accounting firm; as an auditor I need to evaluate the accuracy and reliability of information produced by the software. To do so, I have a responsibility as a student to now fully understand how a system is developed, how it operates and how can it be properly controlled. The Accounting Information System will surely add value to an Organization which is soon I will belong. It can improve efficiency, decision making and internal control that is good for the company.
